TONE WORK DIARY
PLANNING
IMAGE 1
EDITING - When editing this photo I wanted to make clear difference between the rainbow and the back ground as it appeared quite faint at first. Therefore I used selective black and white to make the colours of the rainbow, the only colours on the image. This worked well as it really gave the photo a different feel and make the image original. Next I decided to us the curves tool to make the sky and buildings darker so that the rainbow was further accentuated, I really like how this turned out.
DEVELOPMENT - If I was to take this photo again would try to zoom in slightly more on the rainbow so that I could really focus on the colours. However i am happy with this image as for an unpinned photograph it turned out very well.

EVALUATION - I like how this image turned out because of the detail of the clouds and the way that tone shows up on them. The way this happens makes the image appear almost unreal and different. The clouds look like they have been drawn on rather than a real thing because the editing of the photo makes them appear flat. Although to me this isn't my favourite image and doesn't make me feel or represent anything, its still a good photo at representing tone.
EDITING - The editing I done to this image was very simple and didn't change the appearance all that much. Instead of changing the image I wanted to work on the tones in it to make them stand out more. To do this I used curves which helped me to focus on the parts I wanted to make lighter or darker.
DEVELOPMENT - If I was too take this photo again there isn't really anything that I would change as the photo represents tone in the way I wanted it too. However the ideal thing that could happen would be to have a bird flying past, this would really make an original photo that could have meaning or more interest.

EVALUATION - In my previous posts I haven't really taken any photos of people however it is the type of photography that interests me and holds some type of meaning, that is why I like this image. To take the photo i used the studio and my friend Ellie, she stood in front of the black back ground and I placed the light so it would focus on just the right side of her face. This worked really well and gave the image a serious and mysterious feel, as though it was taken for a programme or advert that represented something dark or hidden.
EDITING - When editing this photo I really wanted to try and make the same effect as the colour but in black and white so that the tones were more obvious. To do this I firstly used curves to make the darker pats of the image a lot darker especially the left side of Ellie's face and the lighter arts like on Ellie's forehead a lot lighter. This really made the image a lot more striking which I really liked. Thew next thing I did to the photo was edit the individual colours on the image to make certain colours that were originally there darker or lighter. I decided my main focus would be to turn the red down so that it was more muted and the yellow p so that it was more saturated and therefore a lighter tone of grey.
DEVELOPMENT - If I was to take this photo again the only thing I would do is bring Ellie in closer so that you could see even more of the detail on her face which is missed out of this one due to the distance.
IMAGE THAT REQUIRES IMPROVEMENT
I think this is the main image that I took that requires lot of improvement. One of the biggest issues with it i think is the fact that its so dark and doesn't show a range of tone at all. Instead it just appears in no detail and with no idea what the photo is of. I think this issue is mostly down to the fact the photo was taken at night so I was reeling on he flash on my camera which just wasn't strong enough to light up the whole area. If I was to take this image again I would use a hard light source like daylight which would really help the image come to life.
