Planning

Image 1
Evaluation - I like this image because it portrays pattern in general life very well. It shows the cyclical nature of buildings and how the repetitive structure they follow make them look very pleasing and orderly to the eye. When taking this photo, I tried to focus on just one part of the building to show just a small part of the pattern, the symmetry of the windows. I think this worked well in terms of portraying a clean and simplistic pattern.
Editing - When editing this photo I wanted to focus on making the building look darker so that the window frames and the brick wall background stood out against the white foreground. I think this worked well as I used curves so that I could focus on making just the areas I wanted darker.
Development - If I was to take this image again I would try to come in a little bit closer so that I wouldn't have had to crop it. I would also have liked the lighting to be a bit harder, however, this couldn't be helped because on the day it was overcast.

Evaluation - I really like this image and the way it portrays pattern. It really represents how the pattern can be shown in the modern day and how it surrounds us but we don't usually notice. The puzzle in the graffiti follows a pattern which fits together. I think this particular piece represents how things can be fixed together or how all different pieces create a much bigger story. I think how this image turned out because I like the amount of the art that I framed.
Editing - When editing this image I didn't want to change too much about it. Instead I wanted to bring the frame in so that the majority of the image was the puzzle pieces. When it came to the colour of it I like how vibrant it looked however I did turn up the saturation slightly just to really emphasise the red pieces against the black outline.
Development - If I was to take this photo again I would try to focus more on the pattern. Therefore I would maybe concentrate on two to three puzzle pieces rather than the whole line.

Evaluation - When looking at all my images I noticed that most of them were just patterns of windows, buildings and tiles on walls. Therefore I wanted to find a pattern that we don't immediately recognise as this. I decided then to take a photo of the laces on my friends shoe, this made a good example of hidden patterns. I think this worked well because of the repeated criss-cross lines, this is interesting as its not something we would definitely say is pattern until further thinking.
Editing - I thought that when editing this image it would look good if the shoe was darker and the laces were whiter, so that the pattern jumps out of the image at first glance. To do this I used curves, this helped me to allocate only the areas I wanted to alter.
Development - I don't think there is anything I would really want to change about this image, the only things I would do if i took it again it to maybe alter the position of the bow on the laces.
Photo that requires improvement
I think this image requires improvement because its not very interesting. It wouldn't catch anyones eye as its not got any saturated or bright colours in it, it's very dull. It also doesn't show an original pattern and is nothing spectacular that would make for an interesting piece.
